"But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow, be patient! For it will surely take place. It will not be late by a single day." Habakkuk 2:3

Back to Life, Back to Reality

We are home and although it is kind of nice to get back into the swing of things, I have to admit that part of me has considered moving to a Young Life Camp and living there! Here is Young Life's Main web page for info on ALL their camps http://www.younglife.org/us
Let me tell ya that we had just an awesome time. That place is like a town in itself-even has it's own school and people with families that live there year-round. It was truly a different world and one that we didn't want to leave. The views in themselves were breathtaking! Here are a few more pictures to share.I want to give a little plug for Young Life-they have such an awesome Christian ministry to kids and if any of you guys out there are either doctors, nurses or paramedics, they can use your help and let me promise that it will be worth your time! They run camps all over the country that are all similar, but each unique. You can go there for a week at a time up to weeks at a time and take your whole family for FREE! All you do is go as part of a medical team-2 doctors, 2 nurses and 2 paramedics. You all give out meds for 1/2 hour after each meal and take care of cuts, bites, any injuries, etc....you can ambulance them or life flight them if it is really bad, but that is rare. You get TONS of free time and can participate in all of the camp activities, zip line, ropes course, blob, swimming in pools, ponds, water slides, speakers each night, worship, free meals and snacks, tons of great fellowship....on and on I could go-it was really fun! Check out the links-they even have weekend camps during winter....look for a city near you! Here is the Oregon one in Antelope. We already signed up to go next year
Ok, well, I came back to reality today when I got up at 5am to head to work for a 12 hour shift at the hospital....and will do this again tomorrow. I also came home to the news that we are now moving backwards on the wait list for our baby! We were 4 unofficially, but are now 5 due to the fact that a family that had taken a "break" from the referral list to deal with some "personal issues" are now back on the list at #1-so that bumped us back a spot. Although I am happy for them that they worked it all out, I am sad that we seem to be at a stand-still almost for referrals happening-it seems so rare in the last 3 months since hardly any referrals have went out. Someone asked me today if we even just think of calling it quits and pulling the plug on the whole adoption thing. My answer was easily NO, but the waiting isn't getting any easier in truth. I would go in a paddle boat to Africa and back 10 times before I would give up on our baby that is somewhere out there (even is not yet born). I know there is a little life that was made to be in our family and that God has called us to do this and placed it on our hearts, so in that we rest. Its all we can do-trust and let him lead. I don't know what the future will hold, but at least I know that God is holding it and already does know.

Ethiopia's Fistula Hospital

We are really hoping to visit this hospital during one of our trips to Ethiopai! They are helping to repair something that we just don't see a whole lot of in the US-and if someone has them, they get them repaired, not very easy in Africa! Obstetric Fistulas.....

This movie came out through NOVA-here is the website about the movie

A Walk to Beautiful has been hailed by critics as “upbeat and life-affirming” (Variety) and a “pure, unabashed humanitarian call to action” (Time Out New York). Deep in the remotest regions of Ethiopia, five women have survived an experience that is often fatal in developing nations: giving birth. They find themselves incontinent due to the absence of medical care, having suffered a traumatic injury –- they are stricken with obstetric fistula. A Walk to Beautiful tells the riveting stories of these women as we follow their journeys toward a new life. Stigmatized by their tragic condition, they are just a few of the millions who suffer from this condition. They struggle every day to regain their sense of dignity. One woman has been reduced to hiding in a makeshift shack behind her mother’s house, while another leaves the only home she has had to live alone in a village where nobody knows her.But there is hope. The Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa offers refuge and treatment to the thousands of women who travel there every year. Each woman undergoes a pilgrimage to the hospital hoping for a cure and an opportunity to reclaim their lives. The cure is a simple surgery for some, but frustratingly complicated for others. The women find a haven in The Fistula Hospital where they hope to take the first steps toward restoring their humanity.A Walk to Beautiful finds each woman possesses the exceptional courage it takes to seek a new beginning for herself and by doing so, creates a new path for future generations of women. “A Walk to Beautiful will leave you speechless two times over – first with despair, then with joy.” --Kenneth Turan of The Los Angeles Times

This is an awesome item to have for any home! TV Guardian-blocks foul language from TV & movies!!

We have been waiting a LONG time for this opportunity to come along. You may have heard us talk about our TV Guardian (foul language blocker) before and how much we love it. It is a device that blocks out bad and questionable language on both tv shows and movies that you rent. It silences the bad word, then uses the closed caption feature in the TV to rewrite the words across the bottom of the screen for you at the same time the word is being silenced-like it will write across the bottom "That darn cat" instead of profanity. It is awesome and we have had ours for years!
We were fortunate enough to get one as a gift from Amber's grandma years ago. Best gift ever! We are a true advocate for the TV and wanted to make sure you had the chance to purchase one as well while they are back in production. Please follow the link below to where you can read more about it. They also give an example of how the unit works with movies AND also TV watching.

They had stopped making the units a good 10 years ago or so. It was do to some sort of patent issue, funding and/or demand for the units. With that they stopped offering them. You could still purchase them but only from EBay and places like that and if you found one, you would be paying a good $350 for the unit unlike the original $90. They attempted to keep them in DVD units so you can still watch movies with the TVG but it was a joint effort with the DVD company. Many of those companies declined to put the TVG into their DVD units. So if you did get one, you could only filter movies and couldn't watch and filter TV and we all know how much TV has gone down hill with language.

You will not be disappointed. They just came back out with the original one! We love ours SO much that we had to share-we are not selling these or getting any profit! Click the link below and they will show you an example of how it works on a movie, they play it regular (with foul language) and then they play it again with TVG working and blocking it out. Tell me you can't watch a movie without hearing that language. It's just not needed in a lot of the movies! Give it a chance. It will be the best $100 you can spend for your family.

"Although it may not always be obvious to us, there seems to be one distinct moment when God begins a new story in each of our lives. He writes words on our hearts that long to be spoken and strain to be lived out. Then with His own great hand, He begins to write the script. Experience by experience through seemingly ordinary days, He supernaturally orders our lives. Only when we look back and reflect on what appeared to have been the ordinary events of life does it become clear what a miracle the Lord has performed." Jan Beazely
